My latest projects have been accepted by the California School Library Association Conference Committee and I am honored by their interest in my work.

I look forward to sharing my ideas at:

CSLA Centennial Conference:
San Francisco February 2015

Two new workshops developed will detail the "process of inquiry" while staying true to the concept of Dollar Daze and Thrifty Finds. This means utilizing inexpensive and readily available resources to promote literacy and research, in addition to using Web 2.0 Tools and Apps to facilitate and demonstrate new learning.

Again, thank you for your support and interest in my work.

Listed below are the topics for exploration and discussion.

A Journey into Inquiry:
Using Children's Books to Teach Science Concepts

Children’s books will be used as a catalyst to address core science ideas, cross-cutting concepts, literacy, and inquiry in a meaningful way. A variety of activities will be deconstructed to analyze how science concepts, literacy and inquiry can be successfully integrated to teach for understanding.

Post Cards from the Edge:
Learning and Memories in Small Bites

In this workshop postcards serve as a starting point for a number of activities that focus on inquiry and learning. Activities will address:
  •  writing and critical thinking
  •  personal and cultural connections
  • science and geography
  • point of view
  • exit cards/reflection/metacognition
  •  design and media analysis
  • art using instagram prints/collage maker
